Hi everyone! My name is Riley Uemura and I’m currently a Junior here at George Mason University Majoring in History with an Intelligence Studies Minor. I’ve always had an interest in history, particularly ancient and medieval history from around the globe. There was no one specific thing that drew me to history. Growing up I remember having an affinity for anything and everything history related, and some of my earliest memories are of museums, tours, and reenactments. Here at Mason, I’ve deeply enjoyed learning about a variety of different locations, time periods, and individuals throughout the course of my studies. Lately, I’ve been focused on learning about the late Roman Empire, specifically around the time of the fourth and fifth centuries.
Before taking this class, I had no online presence by design. I’m not particularly fond of the idea of having any of my personal information on the internet, so I don’t use any social media apps. Still, I’m looking forward to learning about web design and how the internet can be used to help catalogue and present historical works.
